Graduate Message:
Brief description of your day-to-day job at INEOS:
I am the mechanical engineering resource for all the fixed equipment issues for six polyethylene units. I support day to day activities maintenance activities. I work with the operations group to make improvements. I also have begun working with the capital process around turnaround planning. In any given week, I am working on MOC’s RCFA’s and safety initiatives.
Your interests, hobbies (sport and otherwise!), special skills...
I love travelling, spending time with my family especially my nieces and nephews. I am an avid sports fan, the Houston Astros, and my college football team most of all. I enjoy water skiing every summer, and snow skiing in the winter. Also I play volleyball every chance I get.
What are you most looking forward to about the Namibia trip?
I am thrilled at the idea of being in the wild in such an untouched part of the world, especially somewhere I would never have thought to go on my own. I think summiting Brandberg as a group is going to be the highlight of the trip for me! Having already met the group of graduates, I can’t wait to spend another whole week with them, working toward the same common goal. They are fun inspiring people to be around.
What are you most apprehensive about?
I’m most concerned about the build-up and the training portion. I have never been a runner, so I hope to avoid any serious injury that might set me back. Also as the time spent training increases, balancing my work and life responsibilities will become a big part of the challenge.
What do you hope to achieve from the challenge?
I hope to achieve a powerful sense of physical accomplishment, but what is even more important to me is an increased mental toughness and strength that will come from the training as well as the event itself. I hope both the physical and mental accomplishments will spill over into other aspects of my life, work, personal, etc.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I just want to thank the whole team that has worked to put together the in-Nam events, both in the US and around the world. Their support has already been invaluable to me.
